One of my dearest friends gave birth yesterday-so proud and excited to have her join the Mama Club!
We hear, see and read so much about preparing for pregnancy, labor and delivery but the postpartum period gets easily set to the side. I could spend four-two hour sessions on postpartum alone. Sometimes I think we can’t really *hear* the postpartum information while pregnant because our heads are so full of baby gear, shower registries, and the conversation of whether or not to cloth diaper.
Important points I share in the video below include:
- Why I think you need to spend two weeks (if you’re a first time mom) in bed with your baby post birth
- Establishing a healthy breastfeeding relationship
- How to delegate responsibilities
- Whether you need postpartum support and what that looks like
My favorite postpartum tip (put into place during my 7th month of pregnancy) was to create a meal drop plan. We had 2-3 meals a week for 4- weeks after both of our births! It was a ginormous help.
If you have any postpartum recovery tips, I encourage you to share them below.
