Have you ever felt that once a month everyone in the household is acting crazy? Overly emotional, bottomless pits for eating food with no end in sight, and it is not just those who menstruate? It’s EVERYONE in the house — including the pets.
I don’t know about you, but that’s definitely a boiling point me… when everyone, even the animals are acting like … well, ANIMALS! Do you sit and wonder what on earth is going on, will this end, and if you’re going to lose your MIND?! Well, that my friend, is the full moon and its powerful beams in direct cadence with cycles of those pesky critters we call parasites.
Ask anyone who has worked as an overnight nurse or midwife about full moons. They all know to be prepared for weird and crazy stuff to show up, and that they’ll be busy. Seriously, ask ‘em!
My Dog + the Full Moon = No Sleep
Did you know your pet’s behavior, emotions, and agitation can all be impacted by the over abundance of parasites in their body? I’d like to share a little story about my 5-year-old lab, Maibock, and how we recognized this issue for her. She about 2 years old at the time and was getting into crazy emotional fits, barking at everything and anyone that would walk by, was up 4 – 5 times per night 😬 and would just be so “crazy” we couldn’t even handle it.
This pattern continued — about once a month she’d go crazy! We didn’t recognize it being in line with the full moon then, but knew it was cyclical. My husband would even say, “Is it her time of the month again?” Like I said, I was NOT aware that the moon has a correlation to parasite activity, let alone the emotional well-being of animals. However, we knew something had to shift, as I was sleep deprived, and could barely function in my daily life.
We shifted her food, started her on gentle supplements and essential oils — and BAM! Something started to shift … the “time of the month” energy for her was lessened, and with each passing moon she was more and more pleasant to be around. Flash forward to current life with Maibock: I am so grateful that we have led her down the path of sleeping at night and not being so hostile to everyone, and she really truly is just more relaxed (even around the full moon).
Parasites Can Affect Your Pet’s Well-Being
Parasites really have a grip on our emotional state of being, so when we get those parasites back in balance, our body is able to regulate those emotions naturally, too. We still have to work with Maibock, but it’s no longer about sleeping at night. I know that healing is a journey, even for these animals!
So, FYI … the next full moon is on April 16 (this weekend). Knowing now that parasites are active around this time, you’ll have a little more ground to stand on in knowing it’s not you, your kids, your pets, or even your husband — it’s those dang parasites. And we here at MHB we know a thing or two about those pesky little creatures!
