One of the many things I love about Amy Riley (of Loving the Pregnant You), is that she just cuts to the chase and gets real. She sees life as it is and coaches women on getting it.
When pregnancy hits with its whirlwind of nausea, fatigue and swollen ankles, you can bet she is right there with her clients reminding them how to love on themselves.
She is the one who lets you in on the secret of how to accept it all-the emotions, the physical change, the new mind-body connection (or lack thereof). She gets what it feels like to wonder if it’s possible to lose anymore hair with the changing hormones, she knows what it’s like to tinkle when you sneeze with a 6 pound baby laying on your bladder, and she knows the many challenges women face in choosing and then facing the passage of childbirth.
I still remember the day she called and asked me to share one of my birth stories in her Loving the Pregnant You book. I was over the moon that someone (who didn’t even know me) wanted to hear my story. Ever since she has called or emailed to check up on me here and there, still quietly and intuitively mothering me from afar. And I eat it right up.
It’s this and more that has me turn to Amy when it comes to supporting and nourishing women in pregnancy. Last week I interviewed her-I wanted you all the opportunity to *meet* her, to see the Amy I see and to hear the wisdom she has to share.
