Is that title really true, doulas may make the birthing process easier? Why, yes, it is! I have had many clients say having a doula made their birthing process easier than anticipated.
Clients have said having a doula along for the ride made the process easier for the partner to remain connected and be involved.
Dads and partners have stated that having a doula present allowed them to best utilize their energy to support mom through the process all the while taking pointers from suggestions the doula made in order that the partner get the opportunity to be more hands on.
Shorter labors, less medical intervention, decreased need for pain medication, and a continuum of support? Sounds like a great idea to me.
We worked with a birth doula for both of our labors and I can’t imagine having gone through the process without her.
She was calm, reassuring, kind, loving, supportive and consistently reminded me of my strength and ability to birth my babies into the world in the way I thought best.
I get goosebumps just thinking about it.
